In Monday's episode of "Gotham," Hugo Strange's experiments will culminate in the birth of Azrael, who rises from the ashes of Theo Galavan's death. A new featurette, seen first on CBR, explores the creation of the show's newest villain, as stars BD Wong, James Frain and Ben McKenzie weigh in on Azrael's motivations, his hunt for Jim Gordon and more.
"[Hugo] Strange rather brilliantly brainwashes me into thinking I am an 11th century knight," explains Frain, who returns to "Gotham" as Azrael on May 2.
"We're getting closer to the world of super-villains," adds Ben McKenzie. "It's still grounded in reality, albeit a bizarre reality, but it allows for the villains that Jim [Gordon] is fighting to gain the upper hand."
Gordon and Bruce question Professor Strange about Project Chimera, which leads Strange to send the newly resurrected Galavan to confront Gordon. Meanwhile, Nygma investigates who Professor Strange is in the all-new "Wrath of the Villains: Azrael" episode of GOTHAM.
