Arthur Adams has illustrated variant covers for a variety of Marvel titles this year, including "Ms. Marvel," "Avengers World" and "Wolverine." So it's not surprising the publisher enlisted the veteran artist's skills for its 2014 event series, "Original Sin" by Jason Aaron and Mike Deodato. All eight issue of the main "Original Sin" book will have a variant cover by Adams, with each one connecting to form a bigger image. CBR has the exclusive first look at Adams' cover to #1.

"This event is different from previous ones because we are presenting an action-packed murder mystery that's chock filled with viable suspects -- a list that includes heroes and villains -- and twists and turns that'll keep readers on their toes, and the ramifications of the murder will be huge," Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso told CBR News earlier this month. "As superheroes fan out across the universe to discover who killed the Watcher, and why, the bread trail of clues will turn up some surprising suspects, and readers will be left to wonder, 'Is my favorite hero -- or heroes -- capable of this murder?'"

Additionally, Marvel has shared Adams' initial sketch design, to showcase his plan for the full image.

"Original Sin" #1 is scheduled for release on May 7.
