Seventy-five years ago, DC Comics icon Batman debuted in "Detective Comics" #27. This April, the current volume of "Deadpool" reaches issue #27, and CBR has the exclusive first look at one of the ways Marvel will mark the occasion -- with a variant cover illustrated by celebrated comics veteran Art Adams, recreating the famous 1939 Bat-image.
Marvel has billed "Deadpool" #27 as a major event, featuring the wedding of title character Wade Wilson and his recently introduced succubus bride, Shiklah. Along with the regular writing team of Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn, past "Deadpool" scribes Victor Gischler, Joe Kelly, Fabian Nicieza, Jimmy Palmiotti, Christopher Priest, Frank Tieri, Gail Simone, Mark Waid and Daniel Way are slated to contribute to the issue.
"When plans for Deadpool getting married were locked into place, I knew it was going to be big news, and I wanted to do something really special to celebrate the occasion," series editor Jordan D. White told CBR in January. "I cannot tell you how excited I was to actually get all these folks to agree to come back to the M with the M for this issue. It's seriously awesome."
"Deadpool" #27 is solicited at 100 pages with a cover price of $9.99, and will be illustrated by Mike Hawthorne, Scott Koblish and (as the solicitation reads) "many more."
