EXCLUSIVE: Archie Unveils Comic-Con Releases, Including New Fiona Staples Cover

Comic-Con International is less than a month away, and here's a look at what Archie Comics is offering, including a new cover by Fiona Staples.

This year's installment of the always-massive annual Comic-Con International in San Diego is now less than a month away, and CBR has the exclusive first look at a new Fiona Staples-illustrated variant cover to the upcoming "Archie" #1, which will be offered as one of Archie Comics' convention-exclusive offerings.

Staples -- the Eisner Award-winning artist of hit Image Comics series "Saga" -- is set to illustrate the first three issues of the July-debuting "Archie" relaunch, alongside regular series writer Mark Waid. Here's the official details, direct from Archie:

ARCHIE #1 SDCC Exclusive Variant A

Get in on the ground floor of this summer's most-talked about comic book relaunch from the superstar creative team of Mark Waid and Fiona Staples with this Comic-Con International: San Diego exclusive ARCHIE #1 variant cover! Featuring brand-new cover artwork from series artist Fiona Staples depicting Archie, Betty, and Jughead enjoying the outdoors, this variant is extremely limited and a must-have for all attendees!

Archie is also commemorating its Archie Action line at Comic-Con, with a "Mega Man" #50 sketch variant featuring art by Patrick Spaziante. Here's the official information:

Another Archie line, the noir-themed sueprhero imprint Dark Circle Comics, is represented by a poster illustrated by "The Shield" artist Drew Johnson featuring the line's main characters, The Black Hood, The Fox, The Shield and The Hangman.

This year's Comic-Con International in San Diego will take place July 9-July 12, with its annual Preview Night on July 8. Archie Comics will be located at Booth #1829.
