Prolific painter Alex Ross has been spending a lot of time lately in a galaxy far, far away, providing several variant covers attached to the launch of Marvel's new "Star Wars" comic book line. Courtesy of the Alex Ross Store, CBR has the exclusive first look at a Ross-illustrated lithograph that will be available at April's Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim. The image pays homage to the Tony DeZuniga-penciled, Gil Kane-inked cover to 1978's "Star Wars" #7, from the original Marvel series.

Alex Ross Art (though not Ross himself) will attend Star Wars Celebration for the first time this year, and the lithograph will be for sale at the event, limited to 250 pieces. It's a part of the Star Wars Celebration Art Show, which will also include fellow comics artists like Katie Cook, Ken Lashley and Cat Staggs among its lineup.

For comparison's sake, here's a look at the Ross lithograph and DeZuniga's original, side by side:

Star Wars Celebration will take place April 16 through April 19 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

UPDATE 2/13 4:25 PM PT: An earlier version of this story inaccurately credited the original "Star Wars" #7 cover solely to Gil Kane. It was penciled by Tony DeZuniga and inked by Kane, and the article has been amended. Additionally, the original article inaccurately stated that Ross himself would be in person at Star Wars Celebration; he will not, but Alex Ross Art will be attending.
