Marvel Comics is set to launch a new "Daredevil" series in March 2014, and CBR News has the exclusive reveal of the Alex Ross-illustrated variant cover to the #1 issue of the series.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Ross -- who became a comic book superstar with the celebrated "Marvels" miniseries in 1994 -- will return to Marvel in 2014 for a series of variant covers marking the 75th anniversary of the publisher, starting with "Avengers" #25 in January.

The new "Daredevil" volume, from Eisner winners Mark Waid and Chris Samnee, sees Matt Murdock in his new surroundings of San Francisco. "It's not nostalgia that drives Matt there, oddly enough -- it's that (without giving away the why of it) it's the only place he can go and preserve one important aspect of his life," Waid told CBR. "A good lawyer might be able to guess why that is." Waid and Ross collaborated on DC Comics' acclaimed 1996 miniseries, "Kingdom Come."
