The events of House of X and Powers of X have changed Marvel's mutants' possibilities forever, and the first slew of new titles following their conclusion begins to explore this bold, new world. One of the most intriguing so far is Excalibur from Tini Howard and Marcus To.

On the day of the release of Excalibur #1, Marvel released a featurette exploring both the creative process behind Excalibur and giving a glimpse into what the series will explore.

"It's going to be this grand fantasy adventure involving mutants, with a cast of characters that fans know and expect, but other ones that are complete curveballs," Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C. B. Cebulski explained. Series writer Tini Howard elaborated on this, saying that "Apocalypse is the big question mark on the team, right? So when we see the new status quo for mutants, we might understand why Apocalypse has even bigger plans than anyone else on the island."

Whether these plans are dastardly plots to bring about the end of the world or grand designs to help mutants prosper remains unclear. In the meantime, readers will have to wait and see just what Apocalypse has planned for all mutantkind.

Written by Tini Howard with art from Marcus To, Excalibur #1 is now available wherever comics are sold.
