Ewan McGregor to Light Up Screen in 'Beauty and the Beast'

Ewan McGregor is in final negotiations to play the kindhearted candelabra Lumiere in Disney's live-action retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

He'll join a cast that includes Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast, Luke Evans’ as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Josh Gad as LeFou, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette and Kevin Kline as Maurice.

Bill Condon will directed from a script originally penned by Disney veteran Evan Spiliotopoulos and then rewritten by “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” author Stephen Chbosky. Production is set to begin next month at Shepperton Studios in London.

“Beauty and the Beast” opens March 17, 2017.
