Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor isn't ruling out another return to the galaxy far, far away.

McGregor, who starred as Obi-Wan Kenobi in all three films in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy from 1999 to 2005, is set to reprise the role for the first time in 17 years in the character's eponymous Disney+ limited series, which is due to premiere in one month's time. However, the upcoming series might not be the last we see of McGregor's take on the character, as the actor says he's more than willing to make another return, provided Disney and Lucasfilm ask him to.

"If we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I'd be totally up for that," McGregor said in the May 2022 issue of Total Film magazine. "Here I go again," the actor joked. "It's like me knocking at Disney's door again!"

McGregor continued, "It was nice to come back and to bridge that gap between me and Alec Guinness. I got as much, or more, out of playing him this time than I did in the first three movies put together. That's to do with the writing, and the people we were making the series with, and the technology, and how different everything is."

Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben Kenobi, was initially portrayed by Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars trilogy from 1977 to 1983. As McGregor mentioned, the upcoming Disney+ series serves to bridge the gap between the two versions of the character, taking place roughly halfway between 2005's Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

In addition to McGregor returning as Obi-Wan himself, fellow Prequel Trilogy alum Hayden Christensen reprises his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Interestingly, Obi-Wan Kenobi won't be Christensen's final Star Wars appearance, either, as the actor is slated to appear in the Disney+ series Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's apprentice from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. "The extent of this journey, I think, remains to be seen... But what a privilege to get to come back and do this, and to be a part of this project," Christensen told Total Film regarding his return in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
