Ewan McGregor is anxious to continue the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Vivien Lyra Blair, who played young Princess Leia in Disney+'s Star Wars prequel-era series, spoke to The Direct about her co-star's eagerness to return for another season. When asked about returning to the Star Wars universe as young Leia, Blair expressed doubt about it. However, she said that McGregor was trying to make Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 happen. "Well, I think a lot of people are asking me, 'Will we get a second season of 'Obi-Wan'?' And I honestly, I think it’s very much a possibility because Ewan [McGregor] is just begging to do another one. He’s really excited," Blair said.

McGregor previously expressed hope in Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 if the fans demanded it. "I was so happy to do it again and so happy to work with Hayden [Christensen] again, and I hope we get the chance to do it again," McGregor said. "In the old days, I would joke about, ‘There must be a good story to tell between Episode III and VI.’ But, it’s true. I always felt that there was."

Will There Be a Second Season of Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Originally planned as a stand-alone theatrical release, Obi-Wan Kenobi was reconceived as a limited series for Disney+ in the wake of Solo: A Star Wars Story's underperformance in 2018. McGregor reprised his role of Obi-Wan from the Star Wars prequel trilogy and reunited with Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. The series was set between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. While reviews for Obi-Wan Kenobi from critics were mostly positive, Star Wars fans were left divided after the series finale.

After the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi, showrunner Deborah Chow addressed the possibility of a second season, saying that they had "conceived" the show "like a beginning, middle, and end." She said, "It is one big story, and it was always meant to be. You can never tell what happens in the future. But, if another series were to happen, it would be the same process of making sure that there was a real story to tell. "

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, however, claimed that Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 is not in active development, but kept the door open to the possibility. "I never say never, because there's always the possibility," she said. "That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another. Everybody's all hands on deck with what we're doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everybody [at the Celebration]. We'll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road."

All episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are available to stream on Disney+.
