Ewan McGregor Joining Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer

Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer continues to take shape with news that Ewan McGregor is in talks to join the fantasy adventure.

Heat Vision reports he would play the leader of the king’s elite guard who helps fight giants in the retelling of the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale. Singer's version centers on a farm boy (Nicholas Hoult) who leads the charge to rescue a a kidnapped princess, a crisis that threatens the uneasy peace between giants and men. Stanley Tucci is the movie's main villain, the king's adviser, while Bill Nighy and John Kassir plays the two heads of the leader of the giants.

Although the critical role of the princess has yet to be cast, Heat Vision says that Adelaide Kane (Power Rangers R.P.M.) and Eleanor Tomlinson (Alice in Wonderland) are among the contenders.

Christopher McQuarrie (The Wolverine), who teamed with Singer on The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, wrote the screenplay with Mark Bomback (Constantine, Race to Witch Mountain) and Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After). The Legendary Pictures and New Line tentpole -- it's part of the studio's streamlined slate -- is set to begin production in London in late March.
