Director Lee Cronin offered fans a chance to listen to the sounds of Evil Dead Rise in its post-production phase."Some disturbing sounds travelling out of the [Evil Dead Rise] edit suite in Dublin this Saturday evening," Cronin tweeted. Though the accompanying video only shows his suite's ceiling, the audio bears some resemblance to sound effects used for the Evil Dead franchise's Kandarian Demon antagonist -- regularly depicted as a moving POV camera shot --  that possesses and transforms unsuspecting people into Deadites.RELATED: Studio 666: The Foo Fighters Take a Page From Evil Dead - Literally

Filming on Evil Dead Rise concluded in late October, with Cronin sharing news of its completion alongside a number of blood-soaked photos. Cronin also served as the movie's writer, with original director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell attached as executive producers.

Evil Dead Rise marks the first entry since 2013's Evil Dead reboot to not feature Campbell as horror protagonist Ash Williams (though Williams made a brief post-credit cameo in the reboot), instead centering on sisters Beth and Ellie, who reunite in Ellie's Los Angeles apartment. Like the other films, it involves a "mysterious book," presumably Evil Dead's Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, that awakens demonic creatures within the building.

While Campbell has officially retired Ash in live-action after Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead, the character's story is still being told in other mediums. Dynamite Comics is currently distributing Army of Darkness: 1979, a miniseries in which Ash is portaled back in time to a 1970s gang-run South Bronx -- an homage to The Warriors, which released that year -- and must fight a new gang called the Warlocks. Campbell will also voice Ash in Evil Dead: The Game, a co-op video game where players can control various Evil Dead characters or the Kandarian Force in iconic franchise locations. The majority of characters will be played by their respective actors, including not only Ash vs. Evil Dead's Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo but also Richard DeManincor and Ellen Sandweiss from Raimi's original 1981 film as Scotty and Cheryl.

Evil Dead Rise is Cronin's second major film after 2019's The Hole in the Ground. Meanwhile, Campbell -- who recently starred in the horror-comedy Black Friday -- is expected to cameo in Raimi's next project, Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While plot details remain under wraps, rumors suggest Multiverse of Madness contains a horror movie-style "impressive body count."

Evil Dead Rise will release exclusive to HBO Max but has yet to receive an official premiere date.
