While Bruce Campbell says that the role of Ash Williams is off-limits, the actor believes that former WWE wrestler CM Punk would be a great addition to the Evil Dead universe."You know what? CM Punk is great!" Campbell said on Twitter in reference to a recent article about CM Punk portraying Ash in a future Evil Dead film. "He should play a guy in a horror series named Nash, or Bash, or Lash. With all due respect, the name Ash is, like the best table at a restaurant, reserved."RELATED: Would Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange 2 Be Like Spider-Man 2 - or Evil Dead 2?

Campbell has portrayed Ash Williams since the character's first appearance in 1981's The Evil Dead. The actor has played the character in several other Evil Dead universe films as well as the Starz series Ash. Vs. The Evil Dead. Campbell recently claimed he's retired the character of Ash.

As for a new film, Sam Raimi, who directed the original Evil Dead trilogy, has said that he and Bruce Campbell are working on a future Evil Dead movie with a new director. However, Raimi didn't reveal any official plot details or cast members for the possible film.

While Phillip Jack Brooks AKA CM Punk officially retired as a professional wrestler on January 26, 2014, he has since had appearances at an event held by MKE Wrestling and the Fox Sports 1 program WWE Backstage. Brooks is also an accomplished comic book writer, who has co-written Marvel's Master of Kung Fu and a series based on Drax the Destroyer. An Evil Dead film wouldn't be Brooks' first horror movie role as he recently appeared in Dark Sky Films' Girl on the Third Floor.Â
