Damien Darhk is one of the Arrowverse's most popular villains, having crossed over to several shows within the connected universe after making his debut on Arrow. As a result of his various appearances, Damien has made a lot of enemies, and thus he's had more than his fair share of brushes with death. Let's take a look at each time the H.I.V.E. leader cheated death in the Arrowverse.

Darhk's first recorded brush with death came before the events of any of the Arrowverse series, back when he was still an up-and-coming member of the League of Assassins. As revealed in the Arrow Season 3 episode "Al Sah-him," he and his best friend were both being considered to take over the mantle of Ra's al Ghul, but their master ultimately chose his friend instead. The new Ra's faltered when it came time for him to kill his friend, allowing Darhk to escape with a group of followers and some Lazarus Pit water, going on to create an organization called H.I.V.E. to serve as his own version of the League.

Malcolm Merlyn Blows Up H.I.V.E.'s Base in Arrow Season 4

Decades later, H.I.V.E. arrives in Star City with big plans to kill Oliver Queen/Green Arrow and bring about a nuclear apocalypse. As part of this plan, Damien has Felicity Smoak, John Diggle and Thea Queen kidnapped and taken to a H.I.V.E. base, where they are placed in a gas chamber. As the three are about to be killed in front of Oliver, Malcolm Merlyn and Laurel Lance/Black Canary arrive to save the day, with Malcolm suiting up in a Green Arrow costume.

While Black Canary saves the hostages, Malcolm beats Damien in a fight and leaves him pinned to the ground next to an explosive arrow. Right before the arrow detonates, Darhk casts a spell that saves his life and allows him to come out of the encounter unscathed in order to continue his sinister plans. Ironically, Merlyn ends up being recruited by H.I.V.E. after he betrays Oliver and is cast out by Team Arrow.

Green Arrow vs Damien Darhk

By the time of the Arrow Season 4 finale, Team Arrow has caused several of H.I.V.E.'s carefully laid plans to fall apart, leading Damien to decide to just destroy the world anyway. He and his men have a final confrontation with the Green Arrow in the streets of Star City, which ends when Oliver manages to de-power Darhk and stab him with an arrow, finally killing him and ending his threat. Unfortunately, Darhk ends up getting resurrected by his daughter Nora in Legends of Tomorrow Season 3, with the intent for him to help her and her cult bring about the return of the time demon, Mallus.

Despite serving as Mallus' loyal servant throughout all of Legends Season 3, Damien changes his tune in the last few episodes when it becomes clear that the demon's return will mean the death of Nora. Ray Palmer and Darhk travel back in time to 1992 in order to save her life, with Ray dragging Nora away while her father takes her place. With Nora gone, Damien is killed as Mallus possesses his body and assumes his true demonic form.

In the Legends Season 5 episode "Mr. Parker's Cul-De-Sac," Damien is resurrected again by Astra Logue to cause pain and suffering on Earth. Instead, he ends up reconciling with Nora and allowing her to marry Ray Palmer, ensuring that she will be happy. Knowing that he has broken the terms of his resurrection, Darhk kills himself with Genghis Khan's Hell Sword.

Not even this is enough to keep Damien down permanently, as he is brought back yet again when Eobard Thawne creates a Reverse-Flashpoint in The Flash's "Armageddon" event. Despite maintaining his villainous personality, Darhk helps Barry Allen reverse Thawne's changes to the timeline, holding off the sinister speedster's allies long enough for Barry to run back in time. Darhk manages to survive long enough to say one final goodbye to Nora, before fading out of existence once more.
