One of the most iconic weapons in all of Star Wars is the lightsaber. Traditionally wielded in the series by those with Force abilities -- such as Jedi and the Sith -- lightsabers are incredibly potent weapons that allow their users to cut through virtually anything and even reflect shots from blasters. Depending on the kyber crystal used to make the lightsaber, there are a variety of different colors they can be. In this video, we're going to break down the meanings of the various colors of lightsabers in Star Wars and how they've evolved.
We're starting this list off with blue, which was one of the three original colors alongside green and red. Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and various other Jedi have used blue lightsabers over the course of the series. The blue lightsabers themselves were for the Jedi guardians, who confronted and fought the Republic's enemies, often utilizing their formidable Force powers in the process.

Created by George Lucas, the original Star Wars film, titled A New Hope, premiered in 1977. Since then, there have been nine films in the core franchise, with two spin-offs. Star Wars is one of the highest-grossing and most popular franchises ever, having made billions worldwide. There have been video games, books, theme park attractions and more based on the world of Star Wars. Right now, Lucasfilm -- which is owned by Disney -- is working on several TV projects set in the Star Wars universe, including The Mandalorian and series centered around Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor.
