The second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has been released by Marvel and Sony, and it brings several familiar Spider-Man villains to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Confirming previous reports that actors from both Sam Raimi and Marc Webb's films would appear, the trailer brings back several fan-favorite villains, while also teasing the inclusion of more surprises within the film itself, so here's what villains are returning so far.

Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe)

The first villain to ever menace Spider-Man on the big screen is also the first villain to appear in the second No Way Home trailer -- or at least his bomb is. After only being hinted at in the teaser trailer, Willem Dafoe returns as the Green Goblin later in the trailer, complete with the original suit and glider that he wore in Sam Raimi's Spider-ManDafoe's Goblin tosses plenty of pumpkin bombs throughout the trailer, and he is also heard taunting Peter in a voiceover, with the implication seemingly being that Green Goblin will be the one calling the shots for this band of multiversal villains.

Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina)

Doctor Octopus Alfred Molina Spider Man No Way Home

Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus has been Spider-Man: No Way Home's most marketed villain so far, and his appearance in this trailer reveals more about what he will be up to in the movie proper. After confronting Peter on the bridge, Doc Ock seemingly steals the nanotech that makes up the Iron Spider suit, incorporating it into his arms. Later, he appears to have been kept in some sort of cell, where his name is mocked by Peter, MJ and Ned.

Despite this, Ock is also briefly shown being blown off a building by lightning that seems to belong to Electro. This suggests that Doctor Octavius may end up betraying his fellow villains, which would be in line with his depiction in Spider-Man 2 as an ultimately good man. No matter what, this trailer confirms that tensions will be high between this sinister group.

Electro (Jamie Foxx)

One of the first villains to have been revealed to return in Spider-Man: No Way Home was Jamie Foxx's Electro, but despite being teased several times, the second trailer is the one to show him in all his glory. Here, Electro is shown looking drastically different from his previous appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, utilizing yellow lightning and even at one point creating the iconic lightning mask from his comic book depiction. As previously mentioned, Electro is shown seemingly attacking Doctor Octopus at one point, and he later teams up with two other villains toward the end of the trailer.

Unknown Green Goblin

One of the trailer's most interesting moments is the inclusion of someone who appears to be another Green Goblin. The figure is shown riding a glider and utilizing several objects that glow green, but he's wearing goggles and a hood instead of Dafoe's iconic helmet. Fans have gone wild with speculation that this is either James Franco's or Dane DeHaan's incarnation of Harry Osborn returning, but it's equally as likely that it's just Dafoe's Goblin with a different costume.

Sandman

Sandman returns from Spider-Man 3, appearing toward the end of the trailer as a giant sand monster. Presumably it is Thomas Haden Church, but that has yet to be confirmed. This is a form he previously took in Spider-Man 3's climax, in which he also fought the Web-Head at a construction site. At the end of that film, Sandman makes amends with Spider-Man and disappears into the wind.

This makes Sandman's appearance in the trailer a bit confusing, considering the fact that Doctor Strange says that each villain who has arrived from the multiverse died fighting Spider-Man. In Sandman's case, it's possible that he died after the events of Spider-Man 3, or Strange's statement could metaphorically refer to the fact that the villainous side of Sandman died after apologizing to Spider-Man.

Lizard

The final villain to appear in the second No Way Home trailer is the Lizard, with Rhys Ifans presumably reprising his role from The Amazing Spider-Man. He briefly appears toward the end of the trailer, teaming up with Electro and Sandman to fight Spider-Man at a construction site. Similarly to Sandman, Ifans' Lizard is another villain who survived his encounter with the Wall-Crawler, so it will be interesting to see how his inclusion is justified.

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
