The character of Spider-Man is still the most featured Marvel superhero to have appeared in feature films. Despite the abundance of Avengers (some of which Spider-Man himself has been in) and X-Men films, Spider-Man still perches atop the pile with three solo film series, an animated feature, two Avengers movies, and a Captain America movie under his belt. He still has more announced on the horizon, and that's not even counting spinoff projects like Venom and Morbius primed to have a web-head cameo.

With all of these Spider-Man movies out there, one must ask: which ones are the best? There's a tangled web of Spider-Man films out there, and one may not know where to start if they're completely new to the Wall-Crawler oeuvre.

11 Amazing Spider-Man 2

Amazing Spider-Man 2

There are a lot of charming and colorful aspects to the world of Spider-Man and his villains, and most of them have been completely sanded off in The Amazing Spider-Man movies starring Andrew Garfield. It's not the fault of the star himself, and the costume does look good in these ones.

However, the triple threat of Green Goblin, Electro, and the Rhino doesn't bring any of their excitement over from the comics to this movie, and the recreated death of Gwen Stacy was especially unnecessary in this feature.

10 Amazing Spider-Man

Peter Parker uses his webs as Spider-Man

The first Amazing Spider-Man was marginally better, though the rendition of the Lizard in this movie is pretty lackluster. Emma Stone does her best as Gwen Stacy in these movies, and that does add something, but the flaws far outshine the positives in this one too.

Also, making Peter Parker a wannabe skater really feels like a complete betrayal of the lovable nerd that fans of both the movies and comics had become familiar with by this point.

9 Spider-Man 3

Make no mistake, Spider-Man 3 isn't good either. However, its flaws are at least quirky, interesting, and memorable. Dancing Peter Parker has almost become a charming memory in the years since. Plus, Thomas Hayden Church played a darn good Sandman and is the highlight of the movie.

That said, Topher Grace was miscast for Eddie Brock, and Venom's film debut wasn't as good as it could have been.

8 Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming was the first MCU solo Spider-Man movie and brought the color and vibrance back to the Web-Head movies. Plus, Iron Man shows up in this one a lot!

Michael Keaton plays a surprisingly intimidating Vulture in this one, and Zendaya puts a new and enjoyable spin on MJ Watson. This one does suffer from Spider-Man feeling like just a protege to Iron Man, but it's still an overall fun flick.

7 Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home is where the MCU Spidey films hit their stride in full. Fan-favorite Mysterio shows up and is played to perfection by Jake Gyllenhaal. He is a hero-turned-shyster, which is exactly what Mysterio should be.

The audience is treated to a variety of Spider-Man costumes in this one, and we get some surprisingly dark moments to balance out all the fun and one-liners.

6 Spider-Man

In terms of the live-action movies, the Sam Raimi directed and Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man features are still undefeated. They're fun, fast-moving, and have a distinct and grabbing visual aesthetic. Maguire is the perfectly dorky Peter Parker, and Kirsten Dunce brings to life an endearing Mary Jane.

The villains are the real treat in these movies, and Willem Defoe knocks it out of the park as the Green Goblin in this opening movie. The costume, while very different than the Goblin suit of the books, is nonetheless stellar.

5 Avengers: Endgame

Spider-Man isn't actually in much of Avengers: Endgame for obvious reasons. However, he still steals many of the scenes when he finally shows up. Tom Holland plays an awkward and innocent Peter Parker, and that shines through in the veritable warzone that Endgame erupts into by the end.

His first meeting with Captain Marvel is particularly charming, even if it is odd that he is so ready to reveal his secret identity in the scene.

4 Captain America: Civil War

Spider-Man's debut in the MCU was, ironically, a Captain America flick. Iron Man is looking for a team to help stop Captain America and the Winter Soldier, and he tracks down the legendary Spider-Man of New York. Tony presents Peter with a new costume (which looks spectacular), and we get to watch Spider-Man tussle with the likes of Cap, Hawkeye, the Falcon, and Ant-Man.

Peter especially comes off as a youthful newbie in this movie, which makes sense considering the company he's keeping. He's an endearing and comedic part of an otherwise heavy movie, and he's a welcome addition at that. The only thing that holds this one back from being higher on the list is the fact that he's not in most of the movie.

3 Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

miles morales as spider-man from into the spider-verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is everything a Spider-Man fan could ask for in a movie (except for maybe Spider-Woman Jessica Drew and Kaine the Scarlet Spider). It has a cavalcade of villains, it plays on the idea of the multiverse of Spider-people out there, and it stars the ever-lovable Miles Morales.

The animation is impeccable and constantly pays homage to the comic book origins of these characters. It presents an older and more mature Peter Parker staring down the possible end of his career, and it also brings Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider to the big screen too.

2 Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man Sam Raimi

All that said, Spider-Man 2 is still the best solo Spider-Man movie out there. Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus set the standard for superhero movie villains. Tobey Maguire once again brings a unique charm, humor, and dorkiness to the role of Peter Parker. The gestures towards the "Spider-Man No More" story are appreciated by comic book fans.

The is fast-moving, focused, and once holds the brilliant aesthetic of the first one. The scene where Spider-Man almost kills himself while trying to stop the runaway train is still one of the most memorable sequences from any superhero yet made.

1 Avengers: Infinity War

Spider-Man Iron Spider Avengers Infinity War Tom Holland

Avengers: Infinity War brings us another one of the most memorable Spider-Man moments, though it's downright gutwrenching. The audience is made to bear witness to the death of Spider-Man in a tear-eyed and horrifying moment of sudden and unexpected expiration.

By contrast, Spider-Man's earlier moments in the movie find him being, well the Spider-Man we know and love. He does everything he can to help in the coming crisis of Thanos, and he goes out of his way to save his fellow heroes during the big showdown on Titan. In this moment, Tom Holland's Peter Parker truly solidifies into the Spider-Man we know and love.
