Amongst the massive Warner Bros. DC Comics slate announcement in October were three dates for new The LEGO Movie films, including The LEGO Batman Movie, slated for release in 2017 -- and according to The LEGO Movie co-director Chris Miller, the Batman spinoff will have quite a bit of history for fans of the Dark Knight.

"Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged," Miller told Empire during its Empire Film Podcast. "There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there. There are 40 versions of his origin story alone."

Reports in October stated that Will Arnett would return to the role of LEGO Batman, and the film would be directed by The LEGO Movie animation supervisor Chris McKay with Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Chris Miller onboard to produce. The LEGO Batman Movie is slated for 2017 release.
