The Marvel Cinematic Universe has remained almost completely consistent when it comes to upcoming movies, only canceling films when they choose a different outlet (Inhumans) or postponing them due to conflicts (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3). However, when it comes to the DC Extended Universe, things have changed constantly since Day 1, and it is hard to keep up with what it actually on the way and what might have already fallen by the wayside.

While there are some big movies coming this year, with Shazam! and Joker already on the way this year, there are others that are in different stages of production and development. There are also those films that Warner Bros. has talked about but remain questionable. Here are six DCEU movies on the way and four that are still just rumored.

10 SHAZAM! (CONFIRMED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

Not only is Shazam! a confirmed DC movie but it is coming up in just one month. Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, with Zachary Levi (Chuck) starring as the superhero and Asher Angel as Billy Batson, the boy who turns into the god-like figure with the mind of a child.

Directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation), the movie is a lightweight DC movie, especially compared to most of the DCEU movies that came before. Mark Strong is classic Shazam! villain Doctor Sivana, someone who is one of his oldest arch-villains -- appearing first in 1939. Meanwhile, Djimon Hounsou does double duty in the DCEU, starring as The Wizard, while previously taking on the role of the Fisherman King in Aquaman.

9 BLACK ADAM (RUMORED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

It seems amazing that Shazam! is coming to theaters in just one month but it was his villain's solo movie that was announced first -- but still has no release date in sight. That movie is Black Adam and it even has a major movie star in the lead role, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson signed on to play the villain.

However, while Johnson still mentions from time to time that he is ready to play this character, there is no word on when, or if, the movie will ever get made. What it will be about is also a mystery, although the one-year long series 52 had a great example of how to make Black Adam the center of a movie, although it is a little dark in comparison to Shazam!.

8 BIRDS OF PREY (CONFIRMED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

When Warner Bros. released a short promo teaser for the upcoming Birds of Prey movie, it moved it from a rumored film to a sure thing, and it revealed a lot of information about the cast. This will be Margot Robbie's second movie as fan-favorite Harley Quinn as she teams up with other Gotham City female heroes to battle the evil Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).

The movie also stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. It also features a teenage Cassandra Cain, the future Batwoman. The release date for Birds of Prey is Feb. 7, 2020.

7 THE FLASH (RUMORED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

One of the big movies in the works when Zack Snyder was making Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League was The Flash. In a recent interview, actor Ezra Miller was talking about his character and he said that the movie was still in development, but they were just waiting to get the right story.

According to original DC rumors, the movie was supposed to be a retelling of Flashpoint, which would take the DCEU into the future. When Miller talked about it, he mentioned the Multiverse and how the movie would deal with so many different DC worlds, so if it does get made, it sounds like it will be huge.

6 THE SUICIDE SQUAD (CONFIRMED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

The Suicide Squad will be a soft reboot of the first Suicide Squad movie by David Ayers. However, this time around Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn will take over the role behind the camera, guaranteeing that the film will have a completely different feel.

The only returning antihero from the first movie is reportedly Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Gunn also wrote his own script for the movie and it has an official release date of Aug. 6, 2021, meaning it will come out after Robbie's Birds of Prey film. Viola Davis is also returning as Amanda Waller.

5 THE TRENCH (RUMORED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

One would think that Aquaman being the highest grossing DC movie of all-time would mean fast-tracking a sequel. However, while Jason Momoa and his performance was clearly the highlight of the movie and a large reason for its success, director James Wan hinted that the sequel might not be about Aquaman at all.

Instead, the rumors indicate that DC is working on a spinoff movie from Aquaman based on the creatures from The Trench. This was the home to the former Atlantians that Aquaman and Mera had to fight to get to the lost land where he found the Trident he needed to save his kingdom. Wan is only set to produce the movie for now.

4 WONDER WOMAN 1984 (CONFIRMED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

In 2017, Wonder Woman proved that a female-led superhero movie could be a huge success at the box office. With Marvel finally releasing their own female-led superhero movie two years later, it seems time for another adventure for the Amazonian warrior. While the movie is ready and titled Wonder Woman 1984, it took a little longer than expected to reach audiences.

Gal Gadot returns as Wonder Woman, a few decades after her last appearance. Chris Pine returns, although how this happens in a mystery since his Steve Trevor died in the first movie and he wasn't around by the time Justice League came out. Patty Jenkins is also back as the director and the movie will hit theaters on June 5, 2020.

3 BATGIRL (RUMORED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

Joss Whedon seemed like he was ready to make his first DC superhero movie when he signed on to work on Batgirl. His take on female empowerment in Buffy the Vampire Slayer made him seem the perfect choice for the role. However, controversy in his personal life and critical disdain for his work on Justice League combined to drive him away from the project.

With that in mind, Batgirl is still in development, although DC has said it will have no real connection to Birds of Prey, which in the comics has a paralyzed Batgirl as Oracle, the group's leader. Birds of Prey's Christina Hodson will write the script and DC wants a female director to step into the chair for the rumored movie.

2 JOKER (CONFIRMED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

Jared Leto portrayed Joker in Suicide Squad and was supposed to have his own movie with Harley Quinn by his side. Strangely, Warner Bros. greenlit a second Joker movie, this one with Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. The second movie was made first and the Leto movie is now postponed indefinitely, possibly waiting to see the response from Phoenix's movie.

Joker is not part of the DCEU continuity and is a new origin story for the Batman villain. Directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover), the movie will also star Robert De Niro and will follow the story of a disgraced standup comedian named Arthur Fleck who becomes the most deranged villain in comic book history. The movie hits theaters on Oct. 4, 2019.

1 THE BATMAN (CONFIRMED)

Every Confirmed/Rumored Upcoming DC Movie

Ben Affleck stepped down as the director on the next Batman movie when he said he couldn't crack the story. After that, Matt Reeves, who brought Planet of the Apes back in amazing style, signed on to direct The Batman. He decided that he wanted his story to be about a younger Batman, one that was no longer a rookie but wasn't yet the unbeatable Batman.

Affleck finally left the movie and Reeves is looking for a new Bruce Wayne for his vision of a detective Noir Batman movie. While there is not a lot of news out there and casting hasn't even found a Batman, this movie is confirmed and has a release date of June 25, 2021.
