Singer T-Pain revealed on Twitter that even he has a favorite Pokémon.After being asked by a fan to settle a debate between friends, T-Pain replied, "Onyx [sic]." He did not elaborate as to why this was his answer.
Onix made its debut in the anime as Brock's rock snake Pokémon. Later versions of Onix included a Crystal Onix who is hunted by the glass sculptor Mateo.
Besides being one of the tallest Pokémon that can evolve, Onix's abilities include burrowing underground at speeds so great it can cause earthquakes and relying on a compass in its brain to indicate which direction it faces while digging. The Pokémon can also roar so thunderously it shakes the ground. Perhaps it's the vocal ability of Onix that catches the "Buy U a Drank" singer's ear.
It remains unclear what exactly attracted T-Pain to this particular Pokémon, but it might have something to do with its etymology. In the original tweet, T-Pain spells the name as its English origin word that is defined as a black stone commonly found in jewelry.
It's also been detailed that as Onix ages, it smooths out until the boulders that make up its body wear away into individual black crystals. So perhaps T-Pain -- one of many celebrity Animal Crossing streamers -- dreams of owning a chain made from an elder Onix, which would make him the first rapper to rock some sentient bling.
