Fans of Marvel's movie and television projects have long clamored for the two sides of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to come together on the big screen, only to be told time and again that, logistically, it's unlikely to ever happen.

"I can tell you that part of the challenge of doing this sort of thing is that the movies are planned out years in advance of what it is that we are doing," Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb recently explained. "Television moves at an incredible speed. The other part of the problem is that when you stop and think about it, if I'm shooting a television series and that's going to go on over a six-month or eight-month period, how am I going to get Mike [Colter] to be able to go be in a movie? I need Mike to be in a television show."

A perfectly logical response, sure, but when has logic stopped fans from coming up with, and sharing, dream scenarios for their favorite characters? That's exactly what happened when one fan created a cast list for the next Avengers film, "Avengers: Infinity War."

Enter Marvel's biggest fan: Robert Downey Jr.

Iron Man actor, who to helped launch the MCU, shared the poster on his Facebook page. And while it's no secret that the artwork itself is fan-made, the actor's succinct comment -- "Excited?" -- has been enough to once again get imaginations flowing, and hopes up.

Directed by "Captain America: Civil War's" Joe and Anthony Russo, and most likely not starring half the people listed on the poster above, "Avengers: Infinity War" hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
