Eva Longoria will be helming the upcoming Fox Searchlight biopic Flamin’ Hot, which tells the story of Richard Montanez, the creator of the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos snack food.

Originally a janitor working at Frito-Lay, Richard would one day dream up the idea of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos -- a creation inspired by, and reflective of, the tastes and flavors of his upbringing and community. His contribution ultimately gave the company a new lease of life -- and the snack food industry.

Longoria was successful in impressing both producer DeVon Franklin and distributor Fox Searchlight with her approach to charting Richard and Judy Montanez’s story. The script will be written by Lewis Colick, writer of Charlie St. Cloud and October Sky. Zahra Phillips will be overseeing the project courtesy of Franklin Entertainment, while Samuel Rodriguez will serve as executive producer.

Flamin’ Hot isn’t the only project keeping Eva Longoria busy. The award-winning actor is attached to Universal’s 24/7 as director and producer. She is also producing My Daughter’s Quinceañera.
