Nate Jacobs is one of the main characters and the primary antagonist of the HBO drama series Euphoria. Played by The Kissing Booth's Jacob Elordi, Nate is a deeply troubled high school student. He succumbs to fits of rage with a penchant for violence, issues that are deeply rooted in his relationship with his father.

Because of his upbringing, Nate struggles with the ingrained toxic masculinity ideology that his father has forced upon him and his true identity. The conflict leaves Nate feeling angry and frustrated and he often takes it out on others around him. Nate has done a lot of horrible and dark things in Euphoria, most of which are unredeemable.

10 When He's Rude To Jules The First Time They Met

Jules is the new girl in town at the beginning of Euphoria and is invited by Kat to a back-to-school party at Christopher McKay's house. Jules decides to go to get to know her classmates but ends up having an unfortunate encounter with Nate.

Nate is furious at Maddy because she has sex with a random guy in the pool in front of everyone at the party. When he goes back inside, the first person he runs into is Jules. Nate has never seen Jules, so he asks her for her name, then begins yelling at her and asking people if they know her. Nate doesn't back down until Jules pulls a knife on him.

9 When He Rats Out Fezco To The Cops

Fezco is a drug dealer and one of Rue's very close friends. Fezco views Rue like a sister and are therefore very protective of her. When he finds out that Nate might by harassing Rue and her friends, he decides to do something about it.

One day while Fezco is working at the gas station, Nate walks in. Fezco decides to confront Nate and tells him if he doesn't stop messing with Rue, he's gonna kill him. The encounter gets under Nate's skin, so he decides to retaliate by informing the cops that Fezco has drugs at his home which leads to a raid at Fezco's place.

8 When He Grabs Maddy By Her Neck

On the night of the carnival, Maddy and Nate agree to meet up. However, when they do eventually meet, Nate criticizes Maddy for her choice of clothing. He claims she looks like a hooker and that his parents already dislike her.

Of course, in true Maddy fashion, she decides to get even. She takes molly, then walks up to Nate's parents' chili booth and hurls insults at his family until Nate drags her away by the arm. Taking her somewhere secluded, he grabs her by the neck and threatens her. Later when Maddy returns home, she has severe bruising on her neck.

7 When He Beats Tyler So Bad He Ends Up In The Hospital

Maddy hooks up with a guy named Tyler to get back at Nate. Later when Nate and Maddy are on the mend, Nate questions Maddy about the incident. She claims she blacked out and doesn't remember hooking up with anyone.

Nate decides to get revenge for Maddy and stalks Tyler. He then breaks into his apartment and lies in wait for him to return. When Tyler comes back home, Nate begins to beat him until he confesses he raped Maddy. He beats Tyler so bad he ends up in the hospital for several days and suffers permanent eye damage.

6 When He Threatens Jules And Blackmails Her

Nate is on a gay dating app when he comes across Jules. He decides to message her and the two begin conversing back and forth all day every day. Jules eventually falls in love with the guy she is messaging, a person she believes to be named Tyler.

The two agree to meet at the carnival, but when Nate shows up, Jules realizes that Tyler doesn't exist. Sometime before their meeting, Nate discovers his dad's disc with a video of Cal and Jules's sexual encounter. In an effort to protect his family, Nate threatens Jules and tells her that he will turn her in for the nude pictures she sent him because she is an underage teen.

5 When He Tells McKay About Cassie's Past

Cassie and McKay meet at Mckay's back-to-school party. When McKay tells Nate about it, Nate asks McKay if he knows about Cassie's past. McKay, of course, has no idea what Nate is talking about, so Nate proceeds to educate him.

Nate shows McKay videos and pictures of Cassie performing sexual acts online, something that it should have been up to Cassie to share with McKay. The information about Cassie's past plagues her and McKay's relationship, putting a sour touch on everything and influencing the way McKay treats her.

4 When He Tells Rue That Jules Will Forget About Her

During her clean period, Rue enters a manic phase where she becomes obsessed with figuring out the mystery of Nate, Jules, and Tyler. Rue is actually the first one to piece together the puzzle to determine the relationship between all the players and her friend Fezco.

At a school dance, Rue confronts Nate. She knows he's the one who turned Fezco in, and she knows he's been messing with Jules somehow. She tells him to leave her friends alone, to which Nate tells her Jules will go off to college and forget all about her, and this is just enough to set Rue off and send her spiraling back into her addiction.

3 When He Begins Sleeping With Cassie Behind Maddy's Back

Nate and Maddy's relationship is complicated, to say the least. They have a back and forth jealousy revenge thing going on that is just toxic and damaging. However, Nate's affair with Cassie is the nail in the coffin of their relationship.

The relationship is not only damaging to Nate and Maddy's already fragile relationship, but it also drives a permanent wedge between Cassie and Maddy. Cassie and Maddy are best friends, and while Nate is not solely responsible for the affair, he should have known better than to cross that line.

2 When He Forces Tyler To Take The Fall For Maddy's Abuse

Poor Tyler has already suffered enough at the hands of Nate, but when Nate is accused of abusing Maddy, Tyler gets dragged back into the drama. Nate shows up at Tyler's apartment again unannounced and rightly frightens him.

Nate explains to Tyler that he has two options, neither he will like. He tells Tyler he can either confess to Maddy's abuse or he will turn him in for statutory rape since Maddy is a minor. Faced with two impossible options, Tyler decides to confess to abusing Maddy. To corroborate his confession, Nate again blackmails Jules into telling cops she saw Tyler assault Maddy.

When Nate learns that Maddy found out about him and Cassie, he knows he has to prevent her from releasing the disc of his dad Cal and Jules. Nate is trying to protect his dad's business that he knows will eventually become his, but in doing so he takes things too far.

Nate breaks into Maddy's room and waits for her to get home. He then pulls a loaded gun on her and asks about the disc. When she denies knowing anything about it, he removes the bullets, pretending to leave in just one. He forces her down on the bed with the gun, and hovers over her asking her over and over again about the disc, placing the gun to his head and pulling the trigger when she denies having it. The frightening game of Russian roulette no doubt traumatizes Maddy, who is already terrified of Nate.
