NBC has snapped up a new police drama led by Ethan Hawke and Law & Order: Criminal Intent star Vincent D’Onofrio.

Deadline reports that Blue Tilt was conceived by writer-producer Chris Brancato (Tru Calling, Criminal Intent), who brought the project to the two actors, who helped shape it. The series centers on two homicide detectives, one married and one divorced, as they solve cases while coping with their families. The title refers to police slang for a homicide detective who, after dealing with particularly brutal cases, becomes a danger to himself and is placed under psychiatric observation.

Hawke, who earned critical acclaim, and an Oscar nomination, playing a rookie cop in 2001's Training Day, is apparently an old friend of D'Onofrio's.  The two starred together in the 2009 crime drama State Island.
