The release of Eternals in November 2021 introduced ten new superheroes to the big screen. Fan theories emerged among the viewers as to how the film is linked to the Avengers: Endgame's plot. The question of who could beat Thanos and stop the "Blip" was one of the biggest questions raised by the viewers.

Those who've watched the fourth Avengers film know that Iron Man sacrificed himself to defeat the Mad Titan. If the Eternals – from both the movie and the comics – took matters into their own hands and combat Thanos, these are the most powerful of them.

10 In Armed Combat, Thanos Has Nothing On Thena

Thena and Makkari in Battle

After being portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the movie, Thena has become a fan favorite of the Eternals. As the daughter of Zuras and cousin of Thanos, it's only natural for Thena to earn the title of Prime Eternal for being the best in armed combat and most skillful among the Eternals. To defeat Thanos, she can use her power to manifest any handheld cosmic energy weapons and Eternal Armor, combined with her superhuman abilities as an Eternal to outsmart the Mad Titan in battle.

9 Gilgamesh Can Land The Winning Punch On Thanos Using Brute Force

Gilgamesh puts Thanos in a chokehold

Debuting in Eternals #13, Gilgamesh is recognized as one of the strongest Eternals when it comes to brute strength. His strong sense of justice led him to intervene with the humans, even joining the Avengers as the Forgotten One. Winning against Thanos is straightforward for Gilgamesh in terms of brute force.

With high durability and the power to focus cosmic energy on his fists, he can deal lethal attacks against Thanos that are powerful enough to kill gigantic Deviants with one hit. If he were to take part in the Avengers: Endgame final battle, he could have defeated Thanos all by himself.

8 Makkari's Combination Of Speed And Strength Generates A Destructive Force That Can Kill Thanos

Front profile of Makkari as a man

Originally the son of Veron and Mara, Makkari is an Eternal from Earth who's resurrected as a woman after dying by suicide. Spending millennia gaining combat experience, Makkari is more than just her superspeed, making her one of the most dangerous Eternals. While her speed isn't the best in the Marvel Universe, she's still a powerful force combined with all the abilities of an Eternal. Makkari is able to defeat Thanos by focusing her cosmic energy to deliver powerful punches at the speed of light and crush his bones. With speed like that, she can easily steal the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos and stop the Blip.

7 Sersi Will Just Transmute Thanos' Molecules Into Whatever She Wants

Sersi transmutes Thanos into fungi

Like every Eternal, Sersi was created by the Celestials to look after humanity. While Sersi spent the most time as an Avenger, she was actually one of the Eternals who died in the Blip. If she hadn't, Sersi could stand against Thanos in a battle of illusions. With her power to transmute any matter with a touch and skills in sorcery, all she needs to defeat Thanos is to get close enough to make physical contact (and then she can turn him into a tree). Since she also has telepathic, telekinetic, and teleportation abilities, it shouldn't be hard getting close to the Mad Titan.

6 Thanos Cannot Withstand An Endless Battle With Ajak

Ajak side profile

Like Makkari, Ajak was originally a man who was resurrected into a woman. The MCU film portrayed Ajak's abilities as a healer, but in the comics, it's more than that. Ajak is known to be virtually indestructible with almost instantaneous regeneration, giving her immortality.

Combined with every Eternal's ability to manipulate cosmic energy and energy blasts, Ajak can defeat Thanos in a battle of durability and endurance. All Ajak has to do is exhaust Thanos of his energy, wait it out, and then give the final blow.

5 Ikaris And Thanos Will Have A Battle That Ends In A Double Knockout

Marvel Comics' Ikaris shoots Thanos with laser eyes

While all Eternals are epically powered, Ikaris is still portrayed as superior in both the comics and the movie, despite his ultimate demise. As an ancient being, Ikaris already defeated villains like Apocalypse multiple times, even before the time of the mutants. He's also challenged and triumphed against Thena as the Prime Eternal. Ikaris fought Thanos a few times before, so he has the experience he needs to prepare for battle. It wouldn't be an easy win, but it would be victory nonetheless and a possibility of getting himself killed in the process.

4 Zuras Channels The Uni-Mind To Overpower Thanos

First introduced as Jupiter in the Red Raven Comics #1, Zuras is the son of Kronos, leader of the Olympia Eternals, and is considered to be the strongest Eternal of his time. Despite having died and been resurrected multiple times, and ultimately taking his own life, Zuras can easily overpower Thanos. Although he can't stop the Blip from an augmented Thanos equipped with the Infinity Gauntlet, Zuras can channel the power of the Uni-Mind with the combined power of enough Eternals to defeat him in regular combat.

3 Grom Can Take Over Thanos' Mind And Destroy Him From The Inside

Born on planet Eyung, Grom is an Over-Mind with a collective psionic power of 1 billion brains. While this makes him mentally unstable, it earned him the title of "Champion of Champions" and "Mightiest Eternal." He made his first appearance in the Fantastic Four #113.

Able to withstand combined blows from the Hulk and Hyperion, Grom's durability and psionic power can take control of Thanos' mind and fry it with psionic attacks. In terms of physical combat, Grom can withstand hits from Thanos, even with the Infinity Stones.

2 Thane Would Either Trap Or Kill His Father With One Hand

An image collage of Thane and his father Thanos from Marvel Comics

Who can better defeat a Mad Titan than his own flesh and blood? An Inhuman woman conceived Thane after a conflict with Thanos and his army. Thane unleashed his superpowers after being subjected to a detonated Terrigen Bomb and empowered by the Black Vortex. The Terrigenesis mutation gave Thane the Death Touch that projects from his left hand to kill everyone within a certain radius, and the Amber Encasement that projects from his right-hand traps anyone in an amber construct and a state of "living death." At one point, he also became a host of the Phoenix Force. However, with or without it, he can easily beat Thanos with his left hand and Black Vortex powers.

1 An Infinite Dose Of Cosmic Energy From Kronos Will Do

Comic panel of Kronos talking about Thanos

Kronos is Thanos' grandfather and father of A'Lars and Zuras. He lived as pure energy and the embodiment of time after losing his physical body in an experiment gone wrong. Indirectly, Kronos already defeated Thanos by creating Eon in the Earth-9997 version of the comics (the entity teleported the Kree Captain Marvel to win against the Mad Titan). In terms of direct combat, Kronos can easily attack Thanos with infinite and lethal doses of cosmic energy attacks. It's no surprise that another descendant can end his branch of the family tree.
