Another Celestial has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At D23 Expo, Marvel Studios released another poster for Eternals, which shows an all-new, all-different Celestial.
Unlike the previous poster, which dropped at Comic-Con International in San Diego, the D23 artwork shows only one lone Celestial. The new concept art is framed around the Celestial's face, neck and shoulders, while a planet and its moon looms against a galactic backdrop.
Why is it the Eternals poster gets a shitty look, but the others get decent shots? Do better, people who were at D23 😩— Mitch ⎊ (@Mitch692) August 26, 2019
Got no clue which Celestial this is though... Maybe it's a take on the Celestial Madonna just cause of the eyes? Kinda? pic.twitter.com/1LA1KPLOhP
Further, this Celestial is different than the one that appeared on the MCU banner at Marvel Studios' D23 booth. As such, Marvel Studios has unveiled six separate Celestials across all three reveals.
Created by Jack Kirby, the Eternals are a race of immortal, superpowered beings who were created by the Celestials. Although they've been alluded to in other MCU films, this movie will mark their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. D23 saw the reveal Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington as Dane Whitman/Black Knight, while Gemma Chan will play Sersi. They're joined by Barry Keoghan as Druig, a villainous Eternal. Plot details about the film are not known at this time.
Directed by Chloé Zhao with a screenplay by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, Eternals stars Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh and Angelina Jolie as Thena. The film arrives in theaters on November 6, 2020.
