If there’s one thing the Marvel Cinematic Universe has managed to get its fans accustomed to, it’s the unavoidable mid-credits and post-credits scene that often tease new movies or include fun details. MCU fans often joke about how waiting for the full credits to roll has become a core part of the movie-going experience.

In some cases, the post-credit scenes add far more than viewers expect. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, they completely tear asunder the happy ending Peter and MJ had presumably earned, as Mysterio reveals Peter’s true identity to the world. MCU’s Eternals doesn’t quite go so far, but its two scenes tease the appearance of some long-awaited characters, and some who are entirely new.

7 The Eternals Receive A Visit From Eros

Harry Styles as Eros in the MCU

With the MCU including so many movies, it has become hard for filmmakers to take viewers by surprise. And yet, Eternals manages to do that, when One Direction star Harry Styles makes his appearance on the Domo starship in one of the post-credit scenes. Eternals Thena (Angelina Jolie), Druig (Barry Keoghan), and Makkari are making their way through the universe, intending to tell others of their kind the truth about their origins.

After their departure from Earth, their remaining friends are attacked and kidnapped by the Celestial Arishem. Harry Styles’s character, Eros, also known as Starfox, arrives to warn them of this development and, presumably to recruit them for a rescue mission. In the comics, Eros has the questionable ability to affect the libidos of the people around him. It's unclear if the MCU version will preserve his skill, but his flirty demeanor seems to suggest he will at least have something similar.

6 Eros’ Connection To Thanos Places Both Past And Future Events Into Question

Starfox MCU Eros Thanos' brother

Eros is likely even less known to MCU fans than the Eternals are, but his appearance may make a huge difference in the big picture. Eros is an Eternal and Thanos’ brother, which naturally begs the question of what makes him different from the Mad Titan. In the comics, Thanos is in fact both an Eternal and a deviant, or rather an Eternal who was born with the deviant syndrome.

The MCU’s Eternals are already very different from their comic book equivalents, but these details could still be canon. This puts the Eternals' previous actions into question. Logic states that the Eternals should have interfered in events like Thanos’ attack on Earth, but according to Ajak, Arishem instructed them to only handle deviants. If that is the case, they should have definitely stepped in when Thanos showed up. Depending on the way this is handled, Eternals could have stumbled into a big plot hole.

5 Pip The Troll’s Connection To Adam Warlock Could Lead Into Guardians Of the Galaxy

Eros' post-credits scene doesn't only include him. In fact, the first character who makes his appearance is Pip the Troll. He teleports on the Domo to herald Eros’ arrival and make the official and shocking introductions. His presence may seem unnecessary, but he actually adds more to the scene than he appears to. First of all, Pip mentions Starfox defeating Black Roger. While this could be an unimportant detail, it does point out the extent of Starfox's power.

Most importantly, Pip the Troll has always been associated with Adam Warlock. He meets and befriends Adam while captive on the Death Ship owned by the Universal Church of Truth. Their relationship is complex, as on one occasion Pip fights the evil version of Adam, Magus. But the connection between them is still there, and it may tie into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Adam Warlock will appear in the third installment of the Guardians’ adventures, most likely as a villain. It will be interesting to see if Pip the Troll will be somehow involved too.

4 Dane Whitman Is Set To Become The Black Knight

Dane Whitman aka Black Knight and Sersi in Eternals

Eternal Sersi's (Gemma Chan) human love interest, Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) doesn’t play a huge role in the movie. He and Sersi are mostly apart as the Eternals struggle to find a way to stop the Emergence. They are reunited during the ending, only for Sersi to be snatched up by Arishem. Dane can do nothing but watch helplessly as his girlfriend is taken from him.

Much like Sersi, Dane has a dangerous secret. This is mentioned more than once, as Sersi gives him a ring with his crest and Dane actually confesses to Sersi that he has some skeletons in the closet. In the post-credit scene, he is shown pacing through his office, then reaching for a mysterious box and unlocking it. Inside, he finds the Ebony Blade, Black Knight’s trademark weapon. It appears that despite all the risks involved, Dane is set to become the Black Knight in the future.

3 The Ebony Blade May Be One Of The Most Powerful Weapons In The MCU

The ominous inscription on the Ebony Blade “Death is His Reward” speaks volumes to its power. While its MCU capabilities have yet to be shown, in the comics, the Ebony Blade can cut through almost anything. That doesn’t come without a cost, as the Ebony Blade corrupts its users, sending them on dark and bloody paths.

It’s notable that the Ebony Blade was mentioned before in Eternals, during an exchange between Thena and Sprite. While reuniting with Makkari, Thena finds a sword and experimentally checks it out. Sprite asks if it is the Ebony Blade, and Thena comments that it is only Excalibur. Clearly, Thena knows just how powerful the weapon is.

2 The Ebony Blade Has Had Interesting Owners

Another thing worth noting is that the Ebony Blade has been wielded by Black Panther in the comics. There are already rumors that the villain of Wakanda Forever may be Namor and could tie in with the destruction caused by the Emergence. If that is the case, it would be interesting to see if Dane will cross paths with the new Black Panther – who will most likely be Shuri.

The sword has also been owned by the Masters of the Mystic Arts. This isn’t that unusual, as the Sorcerers of Kamar-Taj have a collection of mystical artifacts is even bigger than Makkari’s. With Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness approaching, though, it wouldn’t be out of the question for them to make an appearance.

1 Blade Makes A Cameo As An Unidentified Voice

Mahershala Ali, sporting a trim suit and a black pair of sunglasses

One of the most exciting things in Eternals' post-credit scenes is without a doubt the originally unidentified voice who speaks to Dane as he is reaching for the sword. The voice questions Dane’s level of preparedness for wielding the powerful weapon but is understandably ignored. The voice belongs to Mahershala Ali's Blade. It seems more than likely that Blade and the Black Knight will have a role in each other’s movies. It’s an exciting time for fans of the Daywalker.
