Eternals star Patton Oswalt recently revealed he's ready for a Marvel Cinematic Universe spinoff starring Pip the Troll and Harry Styles' Starfox.

The actor and comedian, who voiced Pip in the 2021 blockbuster's mid-credits scene, commented on speculation of a spinoff during an interview with ComicBook.com. "I have not heard those rumors," he said. "That would be amazing if [a Pip/Starfox spinoff happened], because it just seems to me that every time Marvel has rolled the dice on these kind of B or C-level characters that everyone's like, 'Oh, who cares about them?' That's where they end up kind of really blossoming."

"There's Guardian of the Galaxy," Oswalt added. "I don't know if you've seen the new Ms. Marvel show, but it is just an absolute delight. I mean, it's such a great ... And also, I'm a huge fan of both the Ant-Man movies. I think those are fantastic and very, very underrated in terms of a Marvel [movie] and capturing the spirit of those times. So if they did a movie about Starfox and Pip, that would be... Those would be dice I'd like to roll. Why not?"

While Pip the Troll's cameo was one of Eternals' most memorable moments, WETA Digital VFX Supervisors Stephane Ceretti and Matt Aitken previously revealed Starfox's sidekick almost wasn't in the film. According to Ceretti and Aitken, Pip was only added to Eternals after the movie's original ending was deemed too sad. The pair added that the last-minute decision to include the all-CGI character created a tight turnaround time for Eternals' VFX team. "I might have said to [Stephane] at one point, Steph, we're getting close to our hard out," Aitken recalled.

Even with its revised finale, Eternals ultimately proved to be one of Marvel Studios' most divisive films. Director and co-writer Chloé Zhao recently revealed she wasn't surprised by the mixed reaction to the movie, which she attributed to the public's collective mood when it was released. "Eternals was planned to be released soon after [Avengers: Endgame], and not at a time when everyone is having an existential crisis [due to COVID-19]. The film itself is about existential crisis, both for humanity and God. So I think we definitely felt it was coming," she said.

While Marvel Studios is yet to announce a sequel to Eternals, the film sets up several plotlines that continue to ripple throughout the MCU. This includes the arc of Kit Harington's Dane Whitman, whose journey to becoming superhero The Black Knight was teased in Eternals' post-credits scene. Harrington recently revealed he remains in the dark about where his MCU future is headed. "I have no idea. I genuinely don’t. I’m waiting for a call on it at some point," he said.

Eternals is currently streaming on Disney+.
