A new rumor suggests Marvel Studios' The Eternals may set up the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of the Sub-Mariner himself, Namor.

According to MCU Cosmic, the film will feature a scene showcasing Namor's home kingdom of Atlantis sinking into the ocean. However, the outlet notes this will possibly be in the form of a montage as opposed to a major plot point.

Many Marvel fans have been calling for Namor to join the MCU, with some believing the character will debut in Black Panther 2. If not in Black Panther 2, though, there are many other upcoming MCU films and TV shows in which the character could appear, including Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Created by writer/artist Bill Everett, Namor the Sub-Mariner made his official comic book debut in 1939's Marvel Comics #1. Since then, the character has appeared in numerous Marvel comic book series, video games, animated TV shows and more. However, the character has yet to be portrayed in live-action.

The Eternals is based on a cast of powerful intergalactic beings who've secretly been living on Earth amongst the human race. However, a tragedy will force them to reveal themselves.
