Eternals actor Lia McHugh discussed her thoughts on Sprite's aging and how it will make the character "go a little crazy."

In an exclusive interview with CBR, McHugh revealed how she thinks her character will cope with her human transformation. "As a human, I honestly think she might go a little crazy," McHugh explained. "I think she may be a bit of a trouble child, if I'm being honest with you. I bet she'll grow up and be so excited to do everything. I think about that sometimes, about where she would be when we come back in [the potential] Eternals 2."

McHugh also touched on Sprite's relationship with a fellow Eternal, saying, "I think it's funny to think that maybe she turns into a crazy teen and Kingo has to wrangle her."

The final battle in Eternals saw Sprite choose to side with Ikaris, as he attempted to allow the Emergence of a new Celestial to occur on Earth. After failing to kill Sersi due to his love for her, Ikaris joined Sprite to form the Uni-Mind with the other Eternals. Sersi used the remaining energy to turn Sprite into a human, allowing her to age rather than remain in her child-like form.

McHugh added that Sprite's desperation for humanity is what made the character so selfish. "What her motives are I think are a bit selfish. It's very devastating," McHugh explained. "I think a lot of her actions she does because she knows she won't remember. She does hurt her family, but in her mind, she's like, 'But I need to forget, I'd do anything to forget this.' And it's just really sad and devastating. She's so desperate to be a part of humanity and she wants it more than anything else that it's just unbearable for her."

Eternals screenwriters Kaz and Ryan Firpo also confirmed that Sprite is now human, and is no longer able to draw on Celestial energy. "Essentially what Sersi has done is remove that ability. She's taken that generator out of her. So now she is just, as far as we know, a mortal who will age and grow, and live as one of us truly, and doesn't have that magical ability."

While a sequel for Eternals is yet to be confirmed by Marvel, the film's cliffhanger ending leaves a number of stories open for the characters, and concludes with the text, "The Eternals will return." The Firpos have even teased a potential Eternals trilogy featuring an "intergalactic rescue" and have registered their interest for a Disney+ spin-off series featuring Kingo.

Eternals is available to watch on Disney+ now.
