Eternals set up a lot of backstory for Kit Harington's Dane Whitman, but the actor isn't positive the MCU will ever explore any of it.

Harington appeared on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, where the former Game of Thrones star was asked if he had a future with Marvel thanks to the various teases in Chloé Zhao's film last year. "No, not that I know of," Harington said. "It sounds like a very political answer. It’s exciting for me. The last film... it kind of sets an idea up that I might go further, so I’m hoping. But I think whenever you’re answering questions about these things, people point at you and say 'liar' as if you know more than other people. I have no idea. I genuinely don’t. I’m waiting for a call on it at some point."

As Harington notes, his introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe certainly sets up a lot of potential for Dane. Sersi gifts him a ring bearing his family crest from the comics, which he later wears when he video chats with her. That call has Sersi mention Dane's estranged uncle, the villainous Black Knight. The film then ends with Dane about to reveal details about his family before Arishem absconds with Sersi, all leading to the post-credits scene. It's this moment that offers the most teases for Dane's future as the heroic version of the Black Knight, as he opens a box holding the ancestral Ebony Blade.

All of these details not only call back to the source material but clearly lay the foundation for Dane to become a superhero himself, whether in an Eternals sequel or a separate project. And while Harington might not know for sure what Marvel Studios has planned, there are certainly a lot of possibilities. In fact, the scene ends with Mahershala Ali's Blade greeting Dane off-screen, hinting that the Black Knight's origin might be explored in the upcoming Blade reboot.

For both Harington and Dane/Black Knight, there are numerous avenues for exploring the character further. And whether or not the actor truly knows anything, fans will likely have to wait a bit longer to see what the MCU has in store for the wielder of the Ebony Blade.
