As preproduction continues on Marvel Studios' recently announced Eternals, star Angelina Jolie has provided some insight on her preparation to portray the character Thena.

As the Eternal warrior capable of superhuman feats, Jolie has undergone various forms of training, including ballet and sword-wielding. For the Academy Award-winning actress, the role has been an especially inspiring one for her children.

"What’s really moving to me is that they want to see me strong, and so it’s less to see me in a film, but they’re just happy I will be strong and having fun," Jolie shared in an interview with People magazine. "She’s a warrior. I’m going to have to work very hard to give the Marvel Cinematic Universe the Thena they deserve.”

Helmed by Chloé Zhao, sets for the film are reportedly under construction, with principal photography expected to begin in September. Jolie states the upcoming film will bring something new to the MCU as the shared cinematic universe moves into Phase 4.
