By the time the show begins, Erza has already been an S-Class wizard for several years, passing her wizard trials at the age of 15 and becoming the youngest person ever to reach S-Class status.
Equipped with her unique and powerful Requip magic, Erza can store items in a pocket dimension and summon them at will, although Erza is one of the only mages capable of doing so mid-battle. 10 Erza's Purgatory Armor Has a Notorious Reputation
Erza, herself, states that Purgatory is one of the most powerful of her Requip armors. Since the suit covers her from head-to-toe in thick black spikes, it's easily one of the most intimidating.
The armor comes with a gigantic spiked mace to match that stands taller than Erza herself. Erza boasts to Ikaruga, the leader of Trinity Raven, that no one who's ever seen this particular armor has lived to tell the tale. Unfortunately, it proves ill-suited against the Trinity Raven members, since they destroy the armor with relative ease.
9 Her Black Wing Armor Makes Her A Fearsome Creature Of The Night
Erza's Black Wing Armor is a sight to behold, designed both aesthetically and functionally to strike fear in her opponents. The gothic-style suit covers Erza in black plate armor and sprouts large bat-like wings from her back, giving her the ability to fly for short periods of time.
The suit increases Erza's offensive power, supercharging any weapon she uses and allowing for powerful attacks like Moon Flash. The armor is well-suited for both power and speed, which is why it comes equipped with a great sword, as well as two hand-axes, for tactical flexibility.
8 The Thousand Arms Armor Gives Erza A Helping Hand Or Four
One of Erza's most impressive armors was never featured in the popular anime but was shown several times in the manga series. The Thousand Arms Armor gives Erza four additional mechanical arms, allowing her to fight with up to six weapons at a single time.

Her Sea Empress Armor is a powerful example of a specialized suit of armor, designed to repel and nullify water magic-based attacks. It also gives Erza powerful water magic of her own, equipping her with two swords, one made of crystal and one of water, that she can supercharge to launch impressive water attacks.
5 The Lightning Empress Armor Gives Erza Power Over Electricity
Another example of armor designed to be well-suited against a particular form of magic is Erza's Lightning Empress Armor. This suit gives Erza the ability to reduce damage caused by lighting magic, which comes in handy over their numerous confrontations with Lightning Dragon Slayer, Laxus Dreyar, Master Makarov's estranged grandson.
The armor comes equipped with the Spear of Lightning that gives her access to devastating offensive and defensive attacks.
4 The Flame Empress Armor Gives Erza The Power Of A Dragon
Growing up with a young, rowdy Natsu Dragneel probably made Erza's Flame Empress Armor particularly useful since the ornate red and orange plate imbue her with the might of a dragon.
Designed to keep up with the most powerful of fire magic users, the Flame Empress Armor not only gives Erza the ability to wield her own fire magic but also reduces damage caused to her by flame attacks by 50%. This ability has proved effective enough to protect her against Natsu's ultra-destructive Fire Dragon King's Purgatory spell.
3 Erza's Heaven's Wheel Armor Is Iconic
One of Erza's most iconic sets of armor, the Heaven's Wheel Armor, allows her to summon over 200 swords and launch them using a variety of spells, including Circle Sword and Trinity Sword. The armor covers Erza in head-to-toe silver, effectively turning her into a living sword.
It even comes equipped with huge blade-like wings, giving her the ability to fly. Designed for facing multiple opponents at a single time, Heaven's Wheel came in handy during the Grand Magic Games when she faced and handily vanquished 100 foes at a single time.
2 The Nakagami Armor Is Almost Too Powerful For Even Erza To Handle
While the Nakagami Armor is one of Erza's strongest and most effective armors, it's one she rarely dares to use. Regal and revealing the Nakagami Armor requires an immense amount of magical energy from anyone who uses it, causing it to go unused for over ten years before Erza brings it out of retirement for her fight against the notoriously powerful mage Minerva.
In exchange for draining its wearer, the Nakagami Armor completely dispels outside magic. It also equips the wearer with a one-of-a-kind sword that can cut through anything, even space.
1 The Armadura Fairy Armor Marks Erza As The Queen Of The Fairies
Canonically, the Armadura Fairy Armor is the strongest armor in Erza's arsenal. The armor gives Erza the ability to harness torrents of pure energy, supercharging her set of intricately designed swords. The armor's feminine design is made to allude to Erza's status as "Titania, Queen of the Faries."
Soft pastel tones, feathered trim, and wing-shaped epaulets are reminiscent of the Fairy Tail guild's logo. The armor allowed her to overtake her Edolas counterpart, Erza Knightwalker. Unfortunately, the armor was damaged under the force of its own power.
