Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan would reprise his role as Killmonger for a future Marvel Studios project if the opportunity were to arise.

"I don’t know if it’s a possibility," Jordan said in an interview with ExtraTV. "I mean, at one point or another, being able to be in the Marvel Universe was like a dream come true and if there was an opportunity for me to come back, of course I would. I’m not one of those guys like 'oh no, I would never.' Working with [director Ryan Coogler], what we did on that first project and what Marvel does as a whole is something that, as a fan, as a nerd and geek that I am, I just love to see those movies and those characters come to life."

Jordan reprised his Black Panther role as N'Jadaka/Erik "Killmonger" Stevens to voice the character in Marvel's animated What If...? series. However, in May 2021 interview, the actor addressed the likelihood of Killmonger returning for the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, after the character's death at the end of the 2018 film.

Can Killmonger Return to the MCU?

"[On a scale of 1 to 10] I'll go with a 2... I honestly really don't know much at all," he said. "All I know is that they're developing a script [for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever] that's a reflection of a lot of circumstances and tragedy that we had to deal with this past year... I know [writer/director] Ryan [Coogler] and Marvel are going to do the absolute best job at developing a story in a way that makes everybody happy and satisfied and honors [late T'Challa actor Chadwick Boseman] and moves forward with grace."

Wakanda Forever serves as a sequel to 2018's Black Panther, which starred the late Chadwick Boseman as King T'Challa/Black Panther. The plot of the sequel was restructured following Boseman's death in 2020. Wakanda Forever will see Angela Bassett reprise her role as Queen Ramonda, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. As for Jordan, the actor is reprising his role as Adonis "Donnie" Creed in the upcoming Creed III, the third installment of the Rocky spinoff trilogy, for which he is also serving as the director.

"Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right," Jordan said when his directorial debut was announced. "Creed III is that moment -- a time in my life where I've grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment."

Creed III is set to debut in theaters on Nov. 23, 2022. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters Nov. 11, 2022.
