CBS has added three shows to next season's lineup: a reboot of The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah, a sequel to The Silence of the Lambs and a comedy from Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory producer Chuck Lorre.

The announcement comes the day after the network renewed 18 shows and canceled four on its lineup, as reported by USA Today.

The original The Equalizer aired on CBS from 1985 to 1989, starring Edward Woodward as a retired spy turned community vigilante. Denzel Washington led movie versions in 2014 and 2018. Latifah is star and one of the executive producers in the latest iteration, which is created by Andrew Marlow and Terri Miller of Castle. CBS Studios and Universal TV co-produce the show.

Clarice stars Rebecca Breeds of Pretty Little Liars in the title role of rookie FBI agent Clarice Starling. It is set about a year after the 1981 film Silence. Clarice is a co-production of CBS Studios and MGM Television, and is produced by Alex Kurtzman of the Star Trek series.

B Positive, the only pilot completed before the coronavirus (COVID-19) shutdowns, features Thomas Middleditch of Silicon Valley as a divorced father who needs a kidney transplant.

CBS may pick up more shows, although disruptions from the coronavirus outbreak make it unclear if the fall season can commence in September.
