Epic 'Independence Day: Resurgence' Trailer Unleashes Destruction

Fox has unveiled a full-length trailer trailer for "Independence Day: Resurgence" that shows us what Earth's like two decades after the alien invasion, and introduces the cast, both old as new. And then ... it unleashes destruction on a global scale.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, the long-awaited sequel to his 1996 blockbuster finds that, in the 20 years after the invasion, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. However, nothing could prepare them for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

The studio also announced that for a limited time, the original "Independence Day" will be available for download for 99 cents, with Fox's net proceeds donated to the Earth Day Network. Fans can also participate in a global "Independence Day" Live Earth Day Watch Party starting today at 4 .m. PT by following #IndependenceDayLive and @IndependenceDay.

Opening June 24, “Independence Day: Resurgence” stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward.
