A new trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds released.

The new preview offers a look at some of the strange, new worlds from the show's title, and also features the return of Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike. The trailer also features a brief glimpse of Spock, who will once again be portrayed by Ethan Peck, and narration from Rebecca Romijn, who will also reprise the role of the Enterprise's original second-in-command, Una Chin-Riley, better known as Number One. Strange New World's version of the Enterprise's original crew first appeared in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, where they assisted the crew of that show's titular vessel with stopping a renegade AI being that threatened to destroy all biological life in the universe. The series' reimagining of Captain Pike, Spock and Number One proved to be one of the more lauded aspects of that show's second season, and a spinoff starring the crew was announced in 2020. With Discovery having warped to the far future of the Star Trek timeline, Strange New Worlds will serve as a bridge between Discovery's first two seasons and the start of the Original Series.

In addition to the returning cast from Discovery, Strange New Worlds will also star Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Celia Rose Gooding as a young Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga. The show will also introduce Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, a new character who has been teased to have a connection to Khan Noonien-Singh, the genetically-engineered super soldier villain from the Original Series and the Wrath of Khan.

The series will be the fifth new Star Trek series to debut since 2017, as Paramount continues to use the franchise as a tentpole for its expansion into the streaming market. Discovery is currently in the middle of its fourth season on Paramount+, and was recently joined by the second season of Star Trek: Picard, which premiered on March 3. The franchise's two animated spinoffs, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek Prodigy, are also set to continue, with the Lower Decks' airing its third season later this year. Prodigy recently concluded the broadcast of its first season and a second season has already been confirmed to be in production.
