Those Pixar folks sure love their research. When they made Finding Nemo, they were dead set on using accurate reef designs and actual fish traits in their characters. They took that same enthusiasm for recreation when making this TV spot for Monsters University as well as the website based on the fictional institution of higher learning. If you're not paying attention, you might just think you're looking at an actual commercial or deciding whether to join the Roar Omega Roar fraternity.

A prequel to 2001's Monsters, Inc., Monsters U shows how best pals Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) first met in their collegiate days. Here's the official synopsis:

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Dan Scanlon (Tracy) is directing the film. Crystal and Goodman are joined by Steve Buscemi, Dave Foley, Julia Sweeney, Joel Murray and plenty of others in the voice cast. The film is scheduled to hit theaters June 21.
