Endgame Theory: The Avengers Form a New Infinity Gauntlet

WARNING: The following post contains spoilers for Captain Marvel, in theaters now.

An interesting new fan theory regarding Avengers: Endgame has surfaced online in light of Captain Marvel revealing the source of Carol Danvers' superpowers. The theory suggests that the various heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universes with strong connections to the Infinity Stones will form a sort of living Infinity Gauntlet to defeat Thanos and undo his victory from the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

The theory, posted on Reddit by user Billbapapa, points out that several key figures in the MCU are linked directly to each of the six Infinity Stones, with several deriving their respective superpowers from them. With that in mind, this new prediction expands on previous speculation that the surviving Avengers will use the time vortices within the Quantum Realm not to travel back in time to retrieve the stones themselves, but rather the heroes connected to the stones who perished.

Upon their return to the relative present, the Infinity Stone-linked heroes would collectively cancel out the power of the Infinity Gauntlet and set the stage for the final battle with Thanos, the odds having been evened without his omnipotent device.

Captain Marvel revealed that Carol Danvers got her powers directly from the Space Stone after being engulfed in a blast from an experimental lightspeed engine that used the Tesseract as its power source. Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision all got their powers directly from the Mind Stone, with Vision keeping the stone in his forehead, giving him life.

Thor and Loki each had direct contact with the Reality Stone during Thor: The Dark World, as did Jane Foster, with the stone residing within her for much of the film. Doctor Strange and Wong are both sworn to protect the Time Stone within the Eye of Agamotto at all costs, while Ant-Man is theorized to also have a connection to the stone due to his exploration of the Quantum Realm.

Peter Quill's half-Celestial physiology allowed him to come into direct contact with the Power Stone and destroy Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy. And, of course, Gamora was sacrificed by Thanos to summon the Soul Stone during the events of Infinity War.
