WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Disney's Encanto, in theaters now.

Disney's Encanto dives deep into Hispanic culture and the magic of family as the Madrigals eke out a life in a forest enclave after they and their people fled conquerors decades ago. They want to keep the sense of community going, which is aided by the grandmother, Alma (aka Abuela), getting a magical candle after the loss of her husband, Pedro, in their escape. It gifted her triplets mystical powers, which they're now passing onto their progenies, so let's dissect all the abilities the family has.

Julieta Is a Miracle Chef

ENCANTO MIRABEL JULIETA

Alma's daughter, Julieta, has a scrumptious ability, being able to channel the power of medicine into her food. In the movie, she makes empanadas, although it can be just about anything, that allow the eater to heal from whatever malady they're suffering. One bite heals broken bones, or, as seen with her husband, Agustín, bee stings that cause the whole body to swell up, essentially making her a supernatural doctor.

Pepa Can Control the Weather

Pepa, Alma's other daughter, has the ability to control the weather based on her emotions. Usually, she's frazzled, which results in a dark cloud following her around, along with rain droplets, thunder and lightning that can shock others. She tries to keep calm, focusing on sunny weather, but if she's upset, she can cause hurricanes or snowstorms.

Bruno Is a Terrifying Clairvoyant

bruno encanto

Bruno's the third triplet and the one who becomes an outcast. He has the power to see the future, which the village dones't take kindly to. He's seen as a doomsayer, with folks upset with how he can predict things like their animals dying. Bruno's visions can go even deeper, though, including a sand and fire ritual that allows him to spot potential timelines and how the different futures rest on a tipping point.

Isabela Can Control Plants

Isabela is Julieta's eldest daughter, and she has the ability to control plant life like a flower queen. She controls vines, trees and brings flowers like roses up from the ground. Sadly, Isabela becomes a diva, obsessed with beauty and perfection in her princess-like life. However, despite her attitude, she's still important because she helps keep the greenery, flora and fauna of the enclave going.

Luisa Has Super-Strength

Luisa, Julieta's second-oldest daughter, is basically the movie's Superwoman, being able to move mountains, shift churches, lift pianos and houses, throws donkeys onto her back and even smash falling rocks. However, it's this impervious frame and her physical prowess that has her shouldering emotional burdens while trying to protect her enclave. She never complains about being superhuman, and it leads to all the pressure fracturing her mind.

Camilo Can Change His Appearance

Camilo is a shape-shifter in Encanto

Camilo is Pepa's oldest son, and he can shape-shift like the X-Men's Mystique. He uses his powers to help out around town, becoming taller versions of people in the village, or in naughty ways, such as imitating his sister, Dolores, so he can get seconds at breakfast. He loves playing pranks as well, turning into the hunky Mariano to tease Isabela as the families try to arrange a marriage for his cousin.

Dolores Has Super-Hearing

Dolores is Pepa's only daughter, and she has the ability to hear anything, even a pin drop. She's so skilled, in fact, she can even hear when Luisa's batting her lashes or her eyes twitching from the stress she has. This enhanced hearing allows her to hear the village's dirt, which throws the film into disarray when she overhears Pepa's youngest daughter, Mirabel, admitting the family's magic is waning and they may lose their powers.

Antonio Can Talk to Animals

Antonio is Pepa's youngest and Mirabel's favorite cousin due to his childlike innocence. He's gentle and warm, which is why she helps him in his rite of passage as he unlocks his gift from the candle: the power to speak to animals. He commands toucans, leopards, capybaras and even the rats in the home, who let him know about Bruno and his dark prophecy. Speaking to all these animals also allows Antonio to mature early so he can help heal Maribel to get over her insecurities.
