With Earth becoming a battleground for a renewed Kree-Skrull War in the upcoming comic book crossover event Empyre, the X-Men are about to be caught between intergalactic invaders and undead mutants.

Marvel Comics has announced the four-issue tie-in miniseries Empyre: X-Men, featuring a rotating roster of comic book creators as Dawn of X becomes embroiled in its first major crossover event. A group of X-Men writers will be penning the miniseries, featuring the superheroes returning to the destroyed mutant-nation state of Genosha, where they will face the extraterrestrial enemies as well as undead mutants rising from their graves. The site of the first mutant-nation state, Genosha had its population eradicated after a devastating Sentinel attack at the beginning of Grant Morrison's New X-Men run. Years later, the Black Queen Selene used her powers to transform the ruins of Genosha into her own undead kingdom Necrosha, battling against the X-Men. Whether Selene will play a role in the upcoming miniseries has yet to be revealed.

Written and illustrated by a rotating roster of comic book creators, Empyre: X-Men #1 and #2 are expected to go on sale in May from Marvel Comics.
