Following her departure from Skydance's upcoming animated feature Luck in January, Emma Thompson has revealed her letter of resignation that was sent to company management days later.

Appropriately titled "Why I Can't Work with John Lasseter," Thompson's letter, revealed by the LA Times, digs into the complicated nature of hiring a man with sexual harassment allegations and how it affects everybody. "It feels very odd to me," the letter began, "that you and your company would consider hiring someone with Mr. Lasseter’s pattern of misconduct given the present climate in which people with the kind of power that you have can reasonably be expected to step up to the plate."

Thompson began to have conversations about leaving Luck the moment of Lasseter's hiring. Lasseter previously worked at Pixar and left following a report of sexual harassment during his tenure with the company.

Though Thompson has an affection for the film's director Alessandro Carloni and understands the situation is complicated, she stands by her decision. In her letter, she brought up how it would be unfair to force the women of Skydance to work with Lasseter while he undergoes rehabilitation and said that not taking a stand will just lead to stagnation.

Luck releases March 19, 2021. Thompson's next film, Missing Link, will release on April 12.
