She may be the newly-crowned Mutant Enemy Number One, but it appears that Emma Frost is poised to do battle with Steve Rogers' Hydra forces when Captain America's "Secret Empire" takes control of the Marvel Universe.

In "Secret Empire: United," a one-shot tie-in from the creative team of Jim Zub and Ario Anindito (announced via IGN), the former White Queen will lead her personal X-Men team against Rogers' racist regime. The group will essentially lead an upswing in Tian, a mutant-controlled area of the United States, causing Rogers to become personally involved.

"'Secret Empire: United' shows us both levels of Hydra’s orchestrated takeover; ground level conflict between ideologies and high level machinations by those in power,” Zub said of the one-shot. “It's a super-powered thriller with twisted Avengers, X-Men, and Hydra all jockeying for their place in the new world that emerges from Secret Empire."

This looks to be the first step in defining Emma Frost's new role in the Marvel Universe following her role in bringing the X-Men vs Inhumans war to a close by essentially forcing both sides to join forces against her. In the climax of the main battle, Frost murdered dozens of Inhumans after Medusa had already called her forces back and destroyed the Inhuman-creating Terrine Mists the groups were fighting over. Frost then took control of Magneto's mind, forcing him to use his powers to attack the Inhumans before she escaped from the battlefield.

"Secret Empire: United," by Jim Zub and Ario Anindito, and a cover by Ryan Stegman, arrives in stores Hune 14.
