A Quiet Place II's Emily Blunt said that it was hard to pass on the role of Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff for Iron Man 2, but that a contractual obligation to Gulliver's Travels forced her hand.

The actor was obligated to star in the Rob Letterman film due to an "optional picture deal" she signed with 20th Century Fox for her breakout role in 2006's The Devil Wears Prada. This was a "bit of a heartbreaker" for Blunt, who takes her ability to choose which films she stars in very seriously.

"I take such pride in the decisions that I make, and they mean so much to me, the films that I do. I care very deeply, very, very much, about the choices I make. That's all I have, the choices that I make," she told Howard Stern. "I love Iron Man and when I got offered Black Widow I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr. — it would've been amazing."

"I was contracted to do Gulliver's Travels. I didn’t want to do Gulliver's Travels," she added.

In the 2010 film, Blunt starred as Princess Mary alongside co-star Jack Black's Gulliver. Despite what led to Gulliver's Travels, Blunt spoke highly about her on-set experience, stating, "There were a lot of really lovely people who were heaven to work with. I actually had a good time, a laugh, with all of them, but it irked my heart for it to have happened in the first place."
