Emerald City ComiCon debuts this weekend in Seattle

Seattle, WA - February 5, 2003 - Debuting this Sunday, February 9th in beautiful downtown Seattle is the Emerald City ComiCon. Being its first time, the convention has been the subject of much discussion and buzz throughout the Northwest comic book community. Held in spacious 60,000 square foot West Field Plaza of the newly built Seahawks Stadium, it is the largest show of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.

The show boasts a diverse and impressive guest list, featuring Erik Larsen (Savage Dragon), John Cassaday (Captain America), Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan), Sean Chen (Wolverine), Greg Rucka (Queen & Country), Scott Morse (Magic Pickle), Jim Mahfood (Grrl Scouts), Ford Gilmore (Thundercats), Mike Huddleston (Harley Quinn), Steve Rolston (Mek), Pia Guerra (Y: The Last Man) and many more!

The ECCC will be host to several of comicdom's large publishers including Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, Fantagraphics, Top Shelf Productions, Studio Foglio and others! Plus, Charles Brownstein, Executive Director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund will be on-hand to sign people up for membership and give you the scoop on the Fund's latest casework. As a bonus, the first 2,000 attendees will receive a free gift bag.

When asked about the response he's received, ECCC Organizer Jim Demonakos said, "I've been overwhelmed by the excitement everyone has shown towards the convention - from fans to retailers, publishers to creators, I have yet to encounter a negative response. Even the local media has been very supportive, with articles being written about us in local papers and the Fox affiliate picking up the convention as a story on the news." Jim says the plan is to make the Emerald City ComiCon an annual event in Seattle.
