Emerald City Comicon Breaks Attendance Record

Official Press Release

The Emerald City ComiCon (ECCC), the Pacific Northwest's premiere comic book and pop culture convention, has officially announced that attendance for its 2007 show topped 7,700 attendees, marking an astounding 25% increase in attendance over its previous year's show.

"I'm beyond thrilled," says Organizer Jim Demonakos. "This year's show surpassed all of our expectations. I can't thank the fans, creators, dealers and exhibitors enough for helping the 2007 show be our best yet. Just wait until you see what we have in store for 2008!"

The 2008 Emerald City ComiCon will boast changes in both dates and venue. ECCC '08 will be moving to the Washington State Convention and Trade Center located in the heart of downtown Seattle, while the dates will be May 10th & 11th, 2008.

Demonakos explains, "We've had a great experience at Qwest, our home for the last five years, but because they are changing their facilities focus from trade shows to music, we were compelled to look to find an alternate venue."

The Washington State Convention and Trade Center, built in 2001, has established itself as the premiere convention and trade center facility in the Pacific Northwest. With the Emerald City ComiCon being the premiere comic book and pop culture convention in the Pacific Northwest, it was a perfect match.

"The new venue will provide the Emerald City ComiCon a larger floor plan and will also allow for separate panel and event rooms, plus additional room for growth. Due to date availability, we are moving the show from the end of March to early May, keeping the Emerald City ComiCon a show firmly rooted in the spring," concludes Demonakos.
