WWE superstar Ember Moon -- who is currently on the shelf after suffering an Achilles injury back in September -- has now described her injury as being potentially "career ending."

Moon, real name Adrienne Reese, opened up about her injury during a recent appearance on WWE Backstage alongside Renee Young, Booker T and Mark Henry. "The more and more I sit back and look at everything I've done and what I would re-do, I think more about my injury currently and realizing that I may have a career-ending injury," she said, tearing up at one point. "I'm coming back from the hardest injury and I might not have a chance to redeem myself of all the things that I wanted to do and all the things I want to do in my future... It's so hard to think back and regret, when I try to look forward."

Booker T and Henry strongly advised Moon against resigning herself to retirement. She replied, "I keep looking forward and I keep pushing forward because this is what I love. This is my passion, this is the only thing I've ever wanted for myself... I just feel like, thank you guys, but yeah, it's hard. And I hope that I do have more matches, there's so many more things I want to do. Like I said, I'm trying to get on y'all's level. I'm going to prove to you guys that I'm worth redeeming those mistakes and worth redeeming those regrets. It's just going to be a while before I do so."

Moon sustained the Achilles injury several months ago during a sequence in which she was quite literally chasing the WWE 24/7 Championship. Given that she has been out of active competition since, it's rather obvious the injury is legitimate. That being said, some wrestling fans and commentators have already begun to speculate regarding if Moon's appearance on WWE Backstage will be used by WWE to further some sort of comeback storyline as Moon recovers (which is understandable, given the current Drake Maverick firing angle).

Moon began her professional wrestling career in 2007, working the independent circuit under the name Athena. She signed with WWE in 2015 and began performing on the NXT developmental brand under her real name, before adopting the Ember Moon moniker at NXT TakeOver: The End in June of 2016. At NXT TakeOver: WarGames in November 2017, Moon defeated Kairi Sane, Nikki Cross, and Peyton Royce in a fatal 4-way match to claim the vacant NXT Women's Championship. After dropping the strap to Shayna Baszler, Moon debuted on WWE's main roster in April of 2018.
