Elvira and Vincent Price will officially meet in the new Elvira Meets Vincent Price comic series.

Dynamite Entertainment announced writer David Avallone (Bettie Page, Drawing Blood) will return to telling stories about Elvira in the new comic series Elvira Meets Vincent Price, with artist Juan Samu (Black Panther, Transformers), colorist Walter Pereyra and letterer Taylor Esposito. Fans of Elvira are well-acquainted with Avallone, who has worked for more than three years on issues detailing the adventures of the Mistress of the Dark. This time, he's bringing his love for old Hollywood films into the comics by introducing Elvira to the ghost of Vincent Price, a prominent horror actor who starred in films such as House on Haunted Hill and House of Wax (1953).

"Writing Vincent Price is a gift," Avallone shared. "On-screen and off, he's an indelible character and it's delightful to write in his 'voice,' just as it is to write in Elvira's. He's charming and elegant and hilarious… and as in real life, a perfect foil for Elvira. I recommend fans Googling their talk show appearances together."

The ghost of Vincent Price has a very important mission, and he needs Elvira's help if he's to accomplish it. The apocalypse is on its way, and it's going to be live-streamed for viewers to watch. A long-lost movie can save the world, but only if Elvira and Vincent Price can find it in time. Thrills, chills, and terrible puns are promised to be abundant within.

Several different covers were released for the first issue of Elvira Meets Vincent Price. Longtime Elvira artist Dave Acosta designed one, along with Juan Samu and renowned pin-up artist John Royle. Cassandra Peterson, Elvira herself, posed for an additional announcement photo for the series.

Although Elvira Meets Vincent Price is a new story-arc and comic series, Dynamite has released several other Elvira graphic novels. Most notable is the Elvira: Mistress of the Dark series, as well as Elvira: The Shape of Elvira. These issues are also written by David Avallone and include additional adventures that the Mistress of Darkness finds herself entangled in.

Elvira Meets Vincent Price #1 goes on sale in August from Dynamite Entertainment.
