Cassandra Peterson, the actor who portrays Elvira, recently discussed in an interview plans for a third Elvira film, that will likely be animated.

"I have written a treatment," Peterson said in an interview with TooFab. "And I just collaborated with another writer on a little more detailed treatment. And I am honestly thinking that it's going to go the way of animation now."

"Animation is very hot right now," she added. "It's super hot! All animated characters can work, they don't have to worry about masks or anything."

Peterson is no stranger to the world of animation and reprised her role as Elvira for Scooby-Doo! Return To Zombie Island and the upcoming Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo. She also performed several roles in 2012's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series.

As Elvira, Peterson hosted the horror movie program Elvira's Movie Macabre. The program lived through several incarnations, including 13 Nights of Elvira for Hulu in 2014. She also portrayed the role in the feature-length films about the titular character, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark and Elvira's Haunted Hills. Elvira is currently the subject of several comic book series and video games, including a notable appearance in the DLC for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's "Absolution."
