With this year's Arrowverse crossover Elseworlds only weeks away, the first official photo of John Wesley Shipp reprising his role as the Flash from the 1990s CBS superhero series has been released.
Released through Entertainment Weekly, the photo shows Shipp's Scarlet Speedster in his classic costume alongside Supergirl, Oliver Queen's incarnation of the Flash, and Barry Allen's version of Green Arrow as the assembled heroes face down a multiversal threat.
The lineup had previously been seen in a behind-the-scenes photo released by Stephen Amell while the upcoming crossover was filming in Vancouver last month albeit from a completely different angle.
In the Entertainment Weekly article accompanying the new photo, Amell and Grant Gustin had provided some details about the crossover including that the two DCTV heroes wake up one day to realize they have swapped each others' superhero personas while retaining memories of their previous lives. This leads to the alternate universe team up as they try to regain their lives while combating a threat that endangers the entire Multiverse.
This year's Arrowverse crossover event will involve the casts of Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash. The event will unfold over three nights, starting with a special episode of The Flash on Sunday December 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Then, it continues Monday, December 10, with Arrow and concludes on Tuesday, December 11, with Supergirl.
